Cipollini Ad. One Rival:a road machine with the aerodynamics of a time trial bike
Company founder and former sprint world champion Mario Cipollini likes it fast, very fast. With the Ad.One aero racer, the brand has taken this passion for speed to the next level. You can see the aerodynamic optimisation at first glance: the seat and front down tube hug the tyres tightly, just like on a time trial bike. The Ad.One is the logical successor of “The One”, an ultra-fast, stiff, aerodynamic road bike with a low weight.
The frame is manufactured using the in-house TCM process (True Carbon Monocoque). This is not just any conventional monocoque frame but is actually made from one piece rather than having the rear triangle inserted afterwards, as is the case with most commercially available monocoque frames. Thus, a high degree of stiffness is achieved a low weight.B10The geometries are optimised for each frame size, so the bike is incredibly responsive throughout the range. Thus, each frame size has the same handling and the same high stiffness values.
The completely internal cable routing also provides aerodynamic benefits and a clean design. The Ad.One has the same aerodynamics as Cipollini’s triathlon bike, the NKTT, but it offers the comfortable handling of a road bike with optimal smoothness and versatility. Thanks to its relatively low weight, you can also climb well and cover longer distances comfortably thanks to a longer, aerodynamically optimised head tube.
A perfectly tuned set-up
While tradition-conscious Italian brands have long been reluctant to install disc brakes on road bikes, Cipollini now uses powerful hydraulic disc brakes from Sram. This version of the Ad.One features the SRAM Rival Etap AXS series, which offers a reliable introduction to smooth, electronic shifting. It's wireless, so it fits in with the clean design, and allows a wide gear range and customisability via the Sram AXS app. The 1x12 setup gives you a 46 tooth chainring at the front with a 10-36 at the back. The elimination of the derailleur allows even more aerodynamics and weight savings and the versatile, aerodynamic 34 mm FULCRUM Racing 400 DB wheels add to your aero-advantage.
Thanks to the hydraulic disc brakes, the Dolomia has generous 29 mm tyre clearance and comes fitted with 28 mm Pirelli tyres which you'll appreciate along bumpy roads and longer rides.
The result of intensive research
Mario Cipollini invests a great deal of time and passion in research and development work to keep coming up with innovative, high-performance frame designs that are also exceptionally aesthetically and emotionally appealing. His team at the company headquarters in Verona includes the best engineers in the industry.
The brand relies on transparent production chains and Italian craftsmanship: the bikes are developed and produced mainly in Italy, including production still done by hand. The carbon lamination takes place in the Cipollini Bike Centre in Bosnia under the supervision of Italian experts. Cipollini tests the materials together with professional teams, which the brand also partially sponsors.
The Ad.The NK1K is UCI-compliant, but ambitious hobby riders with a love of Italian design and speed will enjoy it just as much. It is a bike from the sprinter for sprinters and people who like to ride hyper-fast, without having to commit to only one discipline with a pure time trial bike.
