Never compromise
The R5 will fuel your passion whether you're tacking on a number or pushing for segment glory. In short, it's a high-performance bike you can trust. Stiffness and geometry work together to deliver pedalling efficiency and a stable ride. The compliance built into the frame and clearance for 30mm tyres provide a smoother ride and help reduce your fatigue. Disc brakes provide controlled braking no matter what the weather is like at the summit.
Cervelo has made the R5 stiffer at key points in the frame while maintaining its featherweight status - not only is it significantly stiffer than the previous iteration of the R5, the disc model is the stiffest road frame ever. This careful balance of stiffness and weight results in a bike that responds quickly to impulse, but is stable and predictable at speed.
Pro Road Fit
Pro Fit from Cervelo offers the lowest frame stack height to allow for an aerodynamic riding position. Pro Fit is the direct result of input from pro racers who wanted to keep their handlebars as low as possible for maximum aerodynamic advantage.
Squoval Max
Squoval Max includes tube shapes that combine the attributes of a square with an oval, but with an aerodynamic leading edge. They use these unique shapes to achieve the ideal combination of stiffness and weight in certain areas of a frame while reducing drag.
BBright
Cervelo developed BBright to take advantage of the fact that oversized frame tubes are stiffer and lighter. The BBright system uses larger tubes in the seat tube, down tube and left chainstay. The advantage is increased stiffness and pedalling performance with a lighter weight frame. BBright is compatible with all common crank standards.
No wasted effort
A combination of material, shape and construction is used to achieve the desired stiffness of the various frame components. For the R 5 disc brake system, they optimised the stiffness of the head tube, for stable and responsive handling, and the stiffness of the bottom bracket, for better power transfer to the rear wheel.
Less drag, more speed
Aerodynamics is crucial to the development of a fast bike: air resistance accounts for as much as 90% of the total drag that can affect the rider. With special frame tube shapes, they have improved the aerodynamics of the R 5 disc brake system so you can reap the benefits of reduced drag. 44 grams of drag improvement over the previous generation R 5
