VITTORIA Technology

Vittoria
Vittoria

Vittoria is the first brand to use four rubber compounds in one tyre. This technology, known as 4C, is characterised by distinctive tread-base (in contact with the casing) and tread-surface compounds and there are sub-divisions at the level of the tread and sides.

Cotton casing

The incredible performance of the Vittoria tyres and tubular tyres originate from numerous years of experience, Research and Development (R&D) and advanced production technology. All of this has made Vittoria a pioneer in the manufacturing of tyres with a cotton casing. The casing is the part of the tyre that the tread rests on: it is crucial for maintaining the structure of the tyre and protecting against punctures. And, therefore, it is the part of the tyre the adds the most weight. As a material, cotton reduces this weight while providing protection and heightened grip. However, in order to strengthen the global resistance of the casing, Vittoria uses Corespun thread, a particular type made of a combination of cotton and aramid fibres. It comes in different versions, from 220 to 320 TPI, according to the desired use. Naturally, the higher the TPI (Threads per Inch), the finer and denser the weave and the more flexible the tyre. This combination of cotton and aramid allows for softer steering, better rolling and greater grip.

Corespun T 320 TPI :this casing is made with the brand's finest thread; it is the lightest, fastest and can bear the most pressure. It is designed for competitions and can be found on the Corsa Speed and Pista Speed models.

Corespun K 320 TPI : this Corespun casing is characterised by kevlar reinforcement, thus adding the benefit of greater robustness. It is used in the Corsa and Corsa Control models.

Corespun 320 TPI : the most advanced casing in terms of technology, this version does not contain any aramid and is perfectly suited to Cyclocross and MTB (Terreno Dry, Terreno Mix and Terreno Wet).

Corespun 290 TPI : a combination of cotton and polyester, this casing is very solid and has a good life cycle. It is able to support a great amount of pressure and so it is exceptionally comfortable. Used on Rubino Pro models.

Cotton 220 TPI : cotton material is traditionally used in tubular tyres. Vittoria uses the best quality cotton in many ranges of tubular tyres, such as the Rally and Juniores models.

Nylon casing

Nylon is a strong and durable artificial fibre that is traditionally used for rigid tyre casings . This artificial fibre is less costly to manufacture. It can be very light but is not as flexible as Corespun, making it ideal for training or leisurely practice. Vittoria provides 220 TPI, 180 TPI, 150 TPI, 120 TPI, 60 TPI and 26 TPI nylon casings, depending on the use and type of practice.

Road tyre construction

Tubeless-ready

The Vittoria Tubeless Ready tyres are manufactured according to the same processes and properties as tubular tyres but the bead material is more resistant (Zylon). This manufacturing was designed to withstand 18 bar of pressure on a standard alloy tubeless rim for optimal safety. This technology is available on cotton (Corsa, Corsa Speed) and nylon (Rubino Pro) casings.

Tubular tyres

The Vittoria tubular tyre tape is glued to the casing by hand. This process requires a technique that is used exclusively for superior models. The construction of the Vittoria tubular tyres drastically reduces rolling resistance and improves puncture resistance. The Road tubular tyre range covers all types of practice:

  • - Road competition: Corsa / Corsa Speed / Corsa Control (with latex inner tube);
  • - Track: Pista / Pista Speed / Pista Control (with latex inner tube);
  • - Triathlon: Triathlon Speed (with butyl inner tube);
  • - Race Performance: Rubino Pro (with butyl inner tube);
  • - Training: Rally / Juniores (with butyl inner tube).

Tyres

As well as traditional tyres, Vittoria also provides tyres known as “Open Tubular” tyres. This is a type of tyre with a unique construction method for top-end tubular tyres. Vittoria's Open Tubular tyres have exactly the same manufacturing processes and properties as tubular tyres with the exception of the inner tube. They are hand-made with an aramid folding bead for optimal adjustments at the rim level. This technology is also applied to the Corsa Control and Pista Control models.

MTB tyre construction

XC Race TLR

The XC-Race has a lighter tyre structure as it is designed for Cross-Country. This tyre is very reliable and offers high level performance, making it the ideal choice for competitions. These Tubeless Ready tyres combine aramid bead, an 120 TPI nylon casing with one single ultra-flexible and light layer and the ultra top-end 4C compound with Graphene 2.0. This construction is applied to the Mezcal, Barzo, Terreno and Peyote models.

XC Trail TNT (Tube no Tube)

The XC Trail has the brand’s sturdiest construction for Cross-Country. Designed for the most demanding and difficult events and routes, this type of tyre has an extra layer of 120 TPI nylon at the sides for increased protection against punctures. The XC Trail tyres also have the very high level 4C compound with Graphene 2.0. It is applied to models, Mezcal, Barzo, Gato and Peyote.

Trail TNT (Tube no Tube)

The Trail construction was designed for Trail and Enduro enthusiasts. This type of tyre’s design is based on aramid beads and an 120 TPI nylon casing. It has added 120 TPI protection at the sides as well as anti-pinch flat inserts (APF) to protect against punctures, whether caused by perforation or pinch. It also has greater support at the tyre shoulder level. The Trail tyres also have the very high level 4C compound with Graphene 2.0. This range includes the Martello, Mota and Morsa models.

Enduro & MTB

The Enduro and MTB models have the sturdiest and most resistant construction. They were designed to withstand the strongest impact, even on an electric bike, and provide high performance on the toughest routes. In order to do this, the tyres in this family have a double-thickness casing (2-ply) with two layers of 120 TPI nylon on the entire surface (from bead to bead). They also benefit from reinforced sides (APF), guaranteeing protecting against punctures, whether due to perforation or pinch, as well as a lot of support at the tyre shoulder level. The Enduro & MTB tyres also have the very high level 4C compound with Graphene 2.0. This range includes the Martello, Mota and Morsa models.
