TACX expertise

HISTORY

Founded on 1 May 1957 in Wassenaar (NL), TACX was originally a bike shop. In 1964, the brand began manufacturing mopeds and in 1969, the small shop was replaced by large-scale factory production.

Rollers and the first home trainers

In 1972, TACX began producing training rollers after having made close ties with Dutch professional cyclists. In 1987, the brand’s current 10,000 m2 factory was opened and TACX began producing, in addition to rollers, the first home trainers as well as bike carriers before also adding bottles and tools to the product line.

Interactive home trainers

In 2000, TACX became the first brand to market on-board connected computers enabling you to track your progress. This was a real revolution in training. Riders were now able to view their speed, power, heart rate and also go online to compare their data with others.

Launch of the Smart range

The launch of the Smart range in 2014 was a technological leap forward in the brand’s development. Smart home trainers are innovative and interactive, communicating with applications, tablets and smartphones via ANT+ and Bluetooth.

The only true Direct Drive

Just after developing the Smart range, TACX launched the only true Direct Drive in 2015. The Neo draws on the latest technology to meet the requirements of the most demanding cyclists. It is extremely precise, realistic, powerful and silent. One year later, the ‘road feel’ function was released to simulate road vibrations.

The story that began in a small bike shop has blossomed into a huge brand offering innovative products in over 80 countries worldwide.

Production

The company’s strength lies primarily in the fact that almost all of the design and manufacturing work is done in-house. Designs and product optimisation are developed and tested very swiftly as the whole process, from mould design to final production, takes place under one roof. The company can also ensure that its products are of extremely high quality with an unrivaled level of precision.

SPONSORING AND PARTNERSHIPS

Above and beyond its passion for cycling, Tacx supports many professional cycling teams. By working hand-in-hand with demanding professional cyclists, TACX develops products which are of extremely high quality. Tacx has technical partnerships with seven Pro Tour teams: BORA-Hansgrohe, Lotto-Soudal, Katusha-Alpecin, Quick Step Floors, Astana, LottoNL-Jumbo and EF – Drapac p/b Cannondale. Tacx is also the technical partner of six Pro Continental teams: Cofidis, Direct-Energie, Roompot Orange Cycling, Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise, UHC Pro Cycling and Wanty – Groupe Gobert.

Alongside Peter Sagan

Born in Žilina on 26 July 1990, Peter Sagan is a Slovak cyclist riding for Team BORA-Hansgrohe. A great all-rounder, Sagan is particularly strong in sprint finishes. Aged only 28, his list of achievements is most impressive: Junior MTB World Champion, multiple winner of the Green Jersey at the Tour de France and three World Road Championship titles (2015, 2016 and 2017). Tacx views him as one of their biggest fans!
