Brand history - FELT

Since its creation in 1991, FELT has been one of the flagship brands in the bicycle industry. The brand was the brainchild of a winning duo: motocross star Johnny O’Mara and his faithful mechanic, Jim Felt. In addition to motocross, the two friends shared another great passion: triathlon. One day, Johnny asked Jim to make him a time-trial bike. Jim rolled up his sleeves and set about identifying the most aerodynamic ride position. The effects were immediate: Johnny won several races on his new bike. Soon after, the world’s best triathletes were knocking at Jim’s door. The ultimate recognition of Jim’s work came in 1991 when triathlon legend Paula Newby-Fraser won the Kona IronMan riding one of Jim’s bikes. Jim decided to officially establish the Felt brand and chalked up many notable victories over the next 10 years. In the early 2000s, Jim decided to put his expertise to good use in other disciplines and his success shows no sign of slowing down…
