Cipollini Bond² Dura Ace - A premium all-rounder
Over his career, the former sprint world champion and company founder Mario Cipollini was the epitome of full-speed racing. To be able to ride fast for a long time, even as an ambitious amateur rider, your bike must be comfortable as well as stiff. The Bond² strikes just the right balance of stiffness and flexibility.
It's comfortable and predictable at the front and stiff and responsive at the rear. A longer wheelbase makes for a comfortable and smooth ride, and carefully shaped tubing also smooths out bumpy roads.The low weight makes it a good climber, yet it remains a true Cipollini: chic and fast. Thanks to the unique construction of the fork and headset, completely internal cable routing ensures a clean design and aerodynamic advantages.
A perfectly tuned set-up
While tradition-conscious Italian brands have often been averse to installing disc brakes on road bikes, Cipollini offers the option of mounting either disc or rim brakes on this frame. This version of the Bond uses the powerful hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano's premium groupset. The Dura-Ace R9270 disc brake system allows for optimal modulation and control with SERVO-WAVE technology. This generation is lower maintenance and quieter than ever before.
The new Dura-Ace brake levers fit in the hand ergonomically, and the lever reach can be adjusted individually.This version of the Bond² is equipped with the complete high-end Dura-Ace Di2 R9200 groupset, which guarantees fast, smooth gear changes thanks to Shimano Shadow+ technology. It's electronic and, as of recently, largely wireless, which in turn is conducive to the clean design, allowing a wide gear range and customisation via the Shimano E-Tube app and a smartphone. As befits the top group, you get excellent workmanship with large carbon and titanium parts. A 52-36 double chainring at the front and a large 12-speed 11-34 cassette at the back make every mountain stage a breeze. It's also got plenty for the flats too. All components of the Di2 groupset are compact and aerodynamically designed.
Fans of structured, watt-oriented training will be pleased with the Dura-Ace power meter on the crank and when it comes to the wheels, Cipollini remains true to his Italian soul. The high-quality 45 mm Campagnolo BORA WTO wheels round off the package and 28 mm Pirelli tyres offer some extra comfort.
The result of intensive research
Mario Cipollini invests a great deal of time and passion in research and development work to keep coming up with innovative, high-performance frame designs that are also exceptionally aesthetically and emotionally appealing. His team at the company headquarters in Verona includes the best engineers in the industry.
The brand relies on transparent production chains and Italian craftsmanship: the bikes are developed and produced mainly in Italy, including production still done by hand. The carbon lamination takes place in the Cipollini Bike Centre in Bosnia under the supervision of Italian experts. Cipollini tests the materials together with professional teams, which the brand also partially sponsors.
The Bond² is UCI-compliant, but any rider with a love of Italian design and a need for speed will have a blast on this machine.
