For almost 30 years, the Astra model has been handcrafted at the Basso factory in northeastern Italy. The latest in this long line of prestigious frames is one that the entire Basso staff is very proud of. It represents the accumulated knowledge and experience from the construction of the five previous models.
2021 Astra goes even further than any other version before it and does so with a good dose of style. The latest version of the Astra model, made entirely in-house by the experienced hands of Basso's staff, features a host of technologies drawn from its upper-tier siblings and features a design that follows an even closer family feel than ever before.
Astra combines the proven and rider-tested Basso geometry with a sophisticated tube structure that provides greater efficiency in both form and function. In addition to the aerodynamics provided by the tubular profiles, the new model is also more efficient thanks to the functional properties of the carbon structure.
A larger, more massive head tube combines with an extremely efficient down tube, which is further enhanced by a special shape. Both tubes couple with completely redesigned chainstays to provide fantastic power transmission through a solid, responsive complete unit of lower tubes (head tube, down tube, chainstays).
Add to the prestigious structure of the new model several design features most often found in higher-priced offerings, and you have not only a podium-worthy road bike, but one that promises fantastic performance. The integrated seat post clamp, internal cables, high quality paint and an extremely reduced - sophisticated graphic design provide a beautiful riding experience that is well above its level in terms of technology, performance, reliability and value.
Astra: the continuation of perfection
The 2021 Astra pushes boundaries - more than any Astra has ever done before. Built in-house by skilled hands, the Astra combines the latest technology, high-quality parts and plenty of style.
Driving experience
With its Basso DNA, the Astra is a true racing machine ready to take you further, faster and with more confidence. The straight fork and the rear triangle, are elements of the big brother "SV", resulting in a similar aggressive and direct handling. Basso developed a geometry for this that combines these direct and aggressive characteristics with a comfortable position.
Style
The integrated seatpost clamp, internal cable routing and the most elegant stem / headset combination in the cycling world make for a frame that convinces not only by the performance it offers, but also by its elegance.
