SMITH - Protection Reinvented

With 50 years of innovation and design experience, SMITH has become a global brand and one of the biggest names in the manufacture of cutting-edge glasses, goggles and helmets. SMITH products are both high-performance and beautifully stylish.

From the outset, SMITH has sought to enhance its customers’ high-octane outdoor experiences in a wide range of disciplines including cycling, skiing, snowboarding, other winter sports, fishing and surfing. With this in mind, US brand SMITH has put together a complete collection offering the highest level of protection and a modern, vibrant style.

SMITH believes that experiences and thrills are the max!

Protection reinvented

Today's riders are going faster, farther, and riding more aggressively than their predecessors. Tomorrow's riders will wear SMITH helmets.

To meet their challenges, it will require protection to be reinvented. What does "protection reinvented" mean? For SMITH, it means that we will strive to create helmets that exceed safety standards. How will SMITH do this? By focusing on the four types of impact: low speed, high speed, rotational, and multiple-impact.

Faible vitesse
Low speed impact
Grande vitesse
High speed impact
En rotation
Rotational impact
Multi impacts
Multiple-impact

Each of these impact types requires a different approach, a different philosophy, a different technology. To go forward, SMITH is creating a Four Pillars of Design ethos. SMITH seeks to build the best helmet possible in order to meet as many of these pillars at one time as possible.

SMITH cycle helmets are designed to encourage you to get outdoors and have adventures! They feature top-of-the-range technologies specifically developed to meet the needs and expectations of riders and cyclists.

Technologies

Koroyd

Koroyd is a revolutionary new material that absorbs more energy on impact than set out in international standards whilst also increasing airflow.

This revolutionary material consists of thousands of co-polymer extruded tubes which are thermally welded together to create an unparalleled consistent and fully engineered core. Each Koroyd section is designed to precise durometer, size and thickness specifications to ensure the greatest impact resistance and an aesthetically pleasing look.

Protection

Koroyd’s precise and unique thermal welding process creates a structure with extremely efficient and consistent energy absorption properties. Upon impact, the cores crush in a completely controlled manner, slowing down the energy from the impact and reducing the final trauma levels.

Absorption

Koroyd’s open cell construction allows cool air in whilst expelling hot air from within the helmet. Koroyd enables more air to enter in to the helmet without sacrificing protection or comfort.

Respirabilité

Recent tests show that Koroyd is capable of absorbing up to 48 times more energy than traditional EPS helmets. Therefore, Koroyd helmets are more resistant and ensure an optimal level of protection during riding, without any excess weight and without sacrificing efficient temperature control.

Four primary benefits

Improved airflow and ventilation

Increased impact resistance

Reduced helmet volume and weight

Fog-free

MIPS

MIPS (multi-directional protection system) is a safety technology which is being increasingly used for both MTB and road cycling helmets. MIPS helmets feature an additional intermediate layer between the head and the external shell. This additional layer can move independently of the outer shell. If you fall at a certain angle, rotational forces are generated. When such forces are created, the intermediate layer is activated, thus reducing the rotational force and subsequently mitigating potential damage to the wearer’s brain.

SMITH helmets are designed to absorb direct impacts very efficiently and, when combined with MIPS, absorb oblique forces better by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner.

Goggle compatibility

Whilst protection is the primary concern of SMITH, comfort should never be compromised. SMITH designs all its helmets and goggles in such a way that they are perfectly compatible. For the helmet line, the most important factor as regards compatibility is the AirVac ventilation system. This ventilation system serves as a bridge enabling the goggle and the helmet to work as one system, expelling warm most air from the goggles via the helmet climate control system.

Clear vision and optimal comprehensive climate control will ensure that you are ready to ride, regardless of the weather conditions!
